RECENT PROJECTS Commissioning Series Producer. The One Show. Working with suppliers around the country, overseeing the production of commissioned films for BBC ONE’s high-profile, topical, daily magazine show. These short-form, often presenter-led, films are made all over the nations and regions by internal BBC departments and independent production companies. I am responsible for daily communication with suppliers over new ideas generation, treatments, scripting, editorial policy issues, reviews of cuts and sign-offs of films. Series Producer. VICE Studios. Working with teams of producers and directors, I made a digital branded content series for a Middle Eastern client. These glossy films offer a glimpse of life and culture in the Middle East and cover topics as broad as food, art, archaeology and sports. Producer/Director. Fighting for Air. A one-off documentary for BBC TWO, presented by Dr Xand van Tulleken, which investigated the public health emergency of urban air pollution. A taskforce of residents in a suburb of Birmingham engaged with their community, businesses and local authorities to achieve the seemingly impossible: Reduce pollution in their local area. The film was described in the press as a “galvanising documentary” with “eye-opening results”. Nominated for RTS Award Director. Horizon: Why Did I go Mad? Critically-acclaimed Horizon episode for BBC TWO, which followed the stories of three people who suffer from psychosis. We examined current scientific thinking about the causes of psychosis and considered both traditional and new treatments. The episode was praised for its accurate and sensitive portrayal of mental illness. Nominated for Mind Media Award Producer/Director. Inside…. This access-led CHANNEL 5 series focuses on businesses and institutions that tell a wider story of the history and culture of Britain. I made two episodes: One about Rolls Royce, covering the rich history and highly profitable present of this iconic company; and one about Nandos, revealing how a small South African fast food franchise became one of Britain’s most successful restaurant chains. Producer/Director. The ‘80s with Dominic Sandbrook: Under Pressure. This stylish BBC TWO film about the 1980s was authored by controversial commentator Dominic Sandbrook. It took the long view on some of the big stories of the decade: the Falklands, the Brighton bomb and the moral panic over video nasties. Press reviews described the film as “witty”, “visually engaging” and “peppered with fabulous music”. |
